GreenGo Recycling featured on CBC

GreenGo Recycling Solutions was recently featured on the CBC commenting on the current state of the electronics recycling industry, specifically the usage of plastics in electronics manufacturing.

In any given object of electric or electronic function you have several different types of polymers. Albeit several of the plastics are in specific uses for their heat resistant or other physical traits, most are used for cost efficiency and availability. When end-of-life electronics are finally processed they are usually shredded, breaking the plastic components into small pieces or particulate. Unfortunately this means that the plastics are now irreversibly mixed together, making traditional means of segregation and recycling impossible. Although catalyst based de-polymerization technologies are being developed to crack petroleum based plastics, reverting them back into diesel or assorted ‘white gases’, we are still usually stuck with a salad of polymers, unusable to 90% of the recycling industry.<<

True ’recyclability’ must start with manufacturing. Reverse engineering products before they hit the factories, with a laid out plan to dispose of all the components in an environmentally responsible fashion. We are not criticizing the development of new products and materials, but would like to encourage manufacturers to communicate more openly with recyclers, developing sustainable and effective methods for recovering the vested commodities.<<

If you are interested in pre-engineered products or electronics recycling please contact GreenGo Recycling Solutions. And remember: If everyone knew more about recycling, everyone would recycle more.
